
Here is what National Geographic says about it: "The little-understood storms may be sparked when rock fragments, ash, and ice particles in the plume collide to produce static chargesjust as ice particles collide to create charge in regular thunderstorms." Isn't that crazy??

Has Tim located any volcanoes in Kansas? Jacob asked me the other day if Kansas (his favorite state) has volcanoes? When I replied that it didn't, he asked me why not. Best reason I could come up with is the lack of mountains. Any thoughts? :)
