The day after we flew back from Maryland from the funeral we drove up to Williams Arizona (for those of you keeping track, the trip to Maryland was the next day after getting home from the Thanksgiving trip to Utah) to ride the polar express train which runs by the Grand Canyon. I really wish it had been better timing, because it really was a fun time. Apparently the good weekends sell out about a year in advance, but our group was able to get these tickets (for a Monday) back in September. We met up with about ten other families of friends. Most of us stayed at the Little America in Flagstaff which was half the fun for the kids. The people running the polar express train were dressed up just like the book. Everyone was served hot chocolate and cookies as we made our way to the north pole (all the way from the Grand Canyon if you can imagine!). When we got to the North Pole it was all lit up just like you would imagine the NP would be, and Santa and Mrs. Claus were standing out there waving to us. I have never in my entire life seen such pure excitement from any group of kids. Their little faces were pressed up to the windows to get a glimpse of the North Pole. I can't believe we didn't have the video camera. It was so funny. So then we turn around to go back and Santa hops aboard to give everyone a jingle bell (from his sleigh of course) - which comes to the highlight of the whole trip, a 45 minute train ride back with a large group of children HOLDING BELLS. You can imagine. It really was a lot of fun though, and I am sure we will go back again at some point.
So when you ride the polar express, you have to wear your pajamas. You'll note the look of pure exhaustion on mine and Tim's faces!

I'm loving your hair! It looks great. Glad to hear you survived the Polar Express. We are still in Orlando hanging out. The weather has been fantastic - sunny and warm. It's been a welcome relief from Cleveland. Talk to you soon.
Your hair is fantastic! Length and color are perfect! Polar Express sounds soooo fun. We've never been. Maybe this June we'll remember to order tickets. :)
